For the book Stone by Stone: Archaeology and the Making of Modern Mexico (published by the University of New Mexico Press, 2016), the author wanted to show historic maps—but she was more interested in the content than the now-discolored historicity. I repaired and rendered two of these maps into grayscale. You can see the before and after for one of them below. Use slider to compare, and click on either image to see a larger version.
